what a hectic yet well worth it halloween....

our Halloween day read like the last page of many a children's book, and if I could publish it one would read, "one batch of cupcakes frantically baked for school, two costume parades for the parents to enjoy, three sets of hands cleaning out the pumpkin, four slices of pizza gobbled up at a festive Halloween party, five blocks of little ones screaming "trick or treat!" , six pieces of candy quickly devoured by an excited monkey and bat, and seven minutes of mum and dad collapsed on the couch before surrendering to sleep.

Halloween this year was definately an interesting one, as big A's concerns over his costume were ever-consuming. Excited and thrilled about his new monkey costume, fear quickly set in as the days approached hallows eve. Petrified of the other boys making fun of his costume, we finally decided it wasn't worth all the stress and decided to spend the day rushing to make a new costume. One paper mache hat, a half a box of aluminum foil, a quickly sewn felt cape, one hockey shoe lace and a bunch of stickers later...we had our costume. (let's just say the "handmade" quality of this one made me a bit nervous about parade! ) In the end, little "space" boy was able to march through his parade without worries.....and ended the parade very happy and ready to join his friends in the classroom festivities.

as school ended and the night began, the monkey costume came back out and we were ready to go...

and little m......well, he was just happy being a bat :)
